BRING BACK THE CES
We are excited to invite you to join our campaign to bring back the Commonwealth Employment Service (CES) and advocate for a fairer and more effective employment service system in Australia.
Back in 1998, John Howard privatised the CES. Privatisation has meant that a few multinational corporations now dominate the sector, prioritising profits over delivering quality support to job seekers.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has acknowledged the flaws in the current system, which focuses more on ticking boxes than providing genuine assistance. It's time for change.
Former CPSU Assistant National Secretary Michael Tull appeared at the Inquiry into Workforce Australia Employment Services
“The opportunity is right now the current system won't deliver it for us. It's too fragmented, prompted by profit. But there is the opportunity to do something substantial and have lasting social benefit right at this point.”
We are calling on the government to take the following actions:
Suspending mutual obligations, recognising their punitive nature
Ending the use of for-profit employment services due to inherent conflicts of interest
Rebuilding a public sector-based employment service
Exploring a new modern CES model, complemented by specialist community-based services
Increasing entry-level jobs within the Australian Public Service
By signing our petition and joining our campaign, you can help us make a difference in the lives of job seekers and rebuild a public service that truly serves the needs of the Australian people.
Sign the petition and spread the word among your friends, family, and social networks.
